I feel silly for asking...

Please forgive me...

I have a firming lotion that I LOVE but it has caffeine in it...Can I still use it? I feel so ridiculous for asking this because I would assume I can still use it?

I know Windsor has guidelines of no caffeine until six months because it can irritate the lining of your pouch/stomach. I went through Guelph, and those guidelines are the same.

I know you went through Toronto, I don't know if they have the same guidelines or not. I've seen other centers (if I'm remembering correctly) that you can have caffeine at 3 months.

Your only a month or so out, in my humble opinion I would not use it. You could always call Windsor and ask them if you could use it.

Thats what I am thinking....I don't drink any caffeinated drinks (before surgery too)

I wasn't sure if its in Lotion if its absorbed the same way?

I would say go ahead and use it. The purpose of no caffeine as another poster indicated was that it could irritate the pouch.

The caffeine in a skin cream, unless you're eating, it is not going to find its way to your pouch.

Yes, it is topical, so its absorbed through the skin, and I'm no doctor by any means, but I would guess it still gets absorbed somewhat into your body, so I'd double check with windsor if you want to use it.

TWH is ok with caffeine (the dietitian said a cup a day is no problem when I asked her) but I would still check with them about the cream if you have questions.

I'll be interested to hear what the surgeon says. I can't imagine that it would be a problem because caffeine absorbed through the skin will not go anywhere near your pouch, but I'm no doctor so am just guessing.

I have heard that we can't use skin creams that contain ibuprofin, which surprised me so this answer may be surprising too.

Please let us know what your surgeon says.
