Has anyone had their referral go through Subury recently? Everything I've found on the forum is pretty old (at least 18m or up to 5 years).

I'm trying to gage timelines.

I've just sent my questionnaire back and my Dr has sent all his stuff (including colonoscopy, endoscopy and blood work results and a new annual physical check up) I'm keen to know when I'm likely to be invited for orientation and what the steps are after that with a rough idea of timelines :)

Hi,

I am currently going through Sudbury. My timeline so far is this. Referral from my family Dr. in August, Orientation in Sudbury was October 26, 2016. I got a call in January for my scheduled one on one appointments for May 9th( all in one day social worker, dietitian and nurse practitioner). I was approved for surgery on May 18th and I am now just waiting to hear about my telemedicine appointment with the surgeons office. Anything else I can help with just ask :)

That's super helpful. Thank you! I'm moving from the GTA to Sudbury next week and my file was just transferred and all the people I've come across are in the GTA and their timelines look a bit different to us northerners :)

Good luck and I'll keep everything crossed for a swift date for your next appointment.

You are welcome. I live about 3 hours south of Sudbury. If you are on facebook there is a group called Sudbury District Bariatric Support group and they have local meetings. I am a bit far to attend one but since you are moving to Sudbury maybe that would be of some help for you.

Thank you, I am hoping I get the call soon, waiting can be hard at times.

I went through Sudbury, and will be 5 months post op tomorrow.

They are very flexible about the orientation date, usually. I believe they have orientations once a week. If you don't hear from them in a week or so, just give them a call and ask if they've gotten your info.

I live in Sault Ste. Marie, so it was a 4 hour drive for me (I can do it faster in summer but it seemed I was always driving in winter). It's great that you'll be right there in Sudbury; so convenient.

My timeline doesn't count because I needed to wait a year to see an asthma specialist to get an OK to go ahead for surgery, so had to do orientation and initial bloodwork twice as it took so long. Once that was done though, the process went quickly. I think it took a month or two for me to meet the surgeon via telehealth after I was through the second orientation (I'd already met with the dietician, social worker, and nurse and didn't have to redo that). Then after meeting with the surgeon online, it was only a month before I had to fly to Toronto to meet the surgical team to pick up Opti, and then after 3 weeks of Opti, it was time for surgery.

Pre-Op Visit: Jan. 10, 2017, weight 304, surgeon: Dr. David Lindsay, St. Joe's, Toronto

1st Day of (3 weeks worth of) Optifast: Jan. 11, 2017

Surgery Date: Feb. 1st, 2017
