I was 7 months out when I had emergency gallbladder surgery. I havent gain any weight yet. I did lose 10 lbs that month but then I stalled for 2 months, my dr said my body need time to recover and caught up I am 7 months post op gallbladder surgery have lost 45 lbs since then. You can't really control if u can and can't have ur gallbladder out once it starts to act up it will get worse.. Just before i had mine out I was having several attacks per day, morning noon afternoon evening journey the night, I was sick all the time. Got to the point I was In so much pain I couldn't walk.. it better to get it out sooner then later.. and if u stay on track with ur clinic meal plan u should gain weight u might stall as ur body needs to heal.

Sorry to hear you're in so much pain. Those stats sound scary and I commend you for being so committed to your weight loss. You loss so far is amazing!!!

I haven't had the surgery. My sister, who is not a WLS patient, did have her gallbladder out a couple of decades ago and has maintained a loss from about 180 to under 125. Easy to maintain? No... like the rest of us, she works at it daily. But the loss and maintenance was possible for her.

Good luck and good health.

I'm sorry your gallbladder needs to be taken out; I believe you'll still lose weight afterwards, based on the Youtubers I watch who have had their gallbladders out and continue to lose weight.

Jess a****ch Kitty Shrink (Youtube) had hers out a few months ago and didn't have a problem with weight gain because of it, and she's doing great. You can watch her journey online; maybe it will make you feel better about your surgery.

I think the main thing people deal with is not being able to exercise for a few weeks while they are recovering from surgery. Lisa (Mini Me in TN, Youtube) is having hers out later this month.

If I were you, I'd have it taken out sooner rather than later; why live with the pain if you can get rid of it? I understand being scared though; surgery is scary.

I had my gallbladder removed at 18 months post op (I'm 2+ years now). I actually lost more weight after being in the hospital. I've put a few pounds back on but it's not due to the surgery...it's due to what I put in my mouth.

Good luck with your surgery!

Tammy :)

I haven't had wls as yet - still going through the process. I have had my gallbladder out though about 4 years ago and I didn't gain weight after it.

I had wls 10 years before having my gallbladder removed and after the gallbladder surgery I gained 45lbs in about 7 weeks! and have not been able to lose it!! I have had fills and they haven't done anything. It is horrible! I worked really hard to lose the 100 lbs that I did and maintained it for 7 years. It is so discouraging and depressing. I wish you better luck than I had!
