Internist appointment today!
I have an my appointment with the Internist this morning. I have my appointment with the Dietician tomorrow. After that, I will need to see the surgeon and then I will get a surgery date. Things are moving along...So exciting!!

Oh dear. I'm sorry. If you don't mind me asking what was their reasoning? Was it your BMI? I think that's personal and if you have comorbidities which I think you mentioned you do than it's more about that than a number right? Really sorry you had that experience.

Thanks for your reply. My bmi is below 40 but I have sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I just don't think he took me seriously. He kept referring to the patient he saw before me..."He had twice your bmi". Ok, I get it, but nobody knows how much I need this surgery than me. I just hate the comparisons. Sorry...just venting a bit!

Well it certainly isn't fair or right for him to arbitrarily be comparing you to his last patient. We all have different reasons for needing/wanting surgery and all come at it from different starting places. I'd say the biggest argument besides your comorbids is that the weight you lose without surgery on your own is statistically more likely to return than weight lost with surgery.

Not that you can't regain with WLS but traditional methods of weight loss prove to not only result in regain but gaining much more than your starting weight. I'd wager a guess that's how most of us over 40 or in my case over 50 BMI patients got to be that high.

It's the same as a gastroscopy. I had it to see if I was a good candidate for the sleeve. Turns out I'm not. Bit of a bummer as I was hoping for the sleeve but I will post about that tomorrow.
