Need advice - hungry enough to eat dirt
Hi all.
I am on day 9 of 21 days of opti and I am constantly starving. I have been drinking 108oz of water a day, at first I was only having 3 opti because I couldn't stomach the thought of a fourth. But someone on here said split the 4th to the other 3 shakes and add more water. That worked. So I am drinking all 4. I have a cup of broth at night but I am so hungry all the time.
One thing I don't crave junk food anymore, that is not what I want. I would give just about anything to have a brussel sprout or a bland chicken breast right now. My stomach is yelling at me constantly.
Any tips on how to curb the hunger?
Thanks in advance.

Drinking decaf chai tea really helped me. I also split my broth into two servings a day while on opti. It gets better! Youre doing great. Keep your eye on the prize

Thanks Monica for the reply. No the only thing we are allowed is sugar free liquids. I do have broth. I will try sugar free gum to see if that works. Thanks for the tip.

If you are hungry, try having all 4 opti's spaced out 4 hours apart; that really will help to curb your appetite.
I drank lots of herbal tea my first week, and wasn't allowed it for weeks 2 and 3 so switched to hot lemon water. Some people have sugar free popsicles, but I was on this in the winter and it was too cold for popsicles.
Whenever my craving**** it usually meant it was time for an opti.

Hi!
The Optifast cycle is a tough one....
I have to agree with Kathi.
Space the Opti 8 am, noon, 4 pm & 8 pm.
I added crushed ice when mixing it. You are lucky because you are in the summer. Drink a lot of water, decaf teas, & decaf coffees in between. I chewed a ton of gum.
This too shall pass...
Good luck

IN THE END WE ONLY REGRET CHANCES WE DIDN'T TAKE.
Are you also taking Metamucil while on the Opti? It should also help give you that filled up sensation after first drinking it.
What about sugar free Jello in addition to the broth? Our program said 20 Calories per day. So one serving of jello (10 Cal) and One serving of broth (10 Cal) for a total of 20.
Seems the Ottawa Clinic is more lenient than other programs, not sure why but it did not hurt me at all.
Other than that, distraction , distraction, distraction. Go for a walk, Do a chore, find something to take your mind off the hunger when it strikes. Easier said than done but it's a tool you will need to use later as well so best find the trigger that works for you now.
