Does this improve?

I feel like almost all of my time is spent dealing with food.

I have my meals and snacks all spread out by roughy 2hrs, but since it takes me so long to eat each portion I feel like I eating ALL THE TIME!

I know that going forward we always need to be eating slowly, but please, tell me this gets better.

You know the answer!! Of course it does!!

Right now getting in your fluid and protein is your full time job!

Go at a pace your comfortable with.

Absolutely it does!

This journey involves meal planning and patience!

When you are not eating.... You are drinking....

OMG it is so worth it! Your success will be measured by how hard you work!

Good luck!

Ginny is right; it's your full time job.

You're still raw inside so it's great that you're taking your time and going slowly, as you don't want to irritate the incisions.

I'm 4 months out and can eat much more quickly than I could starting out, but not even half as quickly as I could pre-surgery (where I could wolf down an entire meal in minutes).

Right after surgery, it took me about 4-6 hours to drink one protein shake. Once I could start eating purees, it took me over 2 hours or so to finish a meal. Now, depending on what I eat, it takes me anywhere from half an hour to one hour to eat. I do much better if I put the fork down between bites and wait a while for the next bite. My friend is several years post op and she can eat normally.

I actually loved that I went from obsessing over what I could eat next (pre op) to obsessing over how much I still had to get in (post op).

Good luck!

Kathy

It for sure does get better! It takes awhile but it definitely does! I'm almost 5 months out and my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach is!

I weigh most of the time but when I don't, I tend to "think" it's a good amount and can eat 1/3-1/2 of what I put in. It's actually quite funny. Before surgery I would have cleared all that I put in/on my plate and went for more and now I can't even eat half of what I "think" I can. If that makes sense.

Thankfully I can feel restriction and have for 2 months.
