tired

Hello everyone:

on my 3 month check up on May 30th, the doctor said there is no reason for me to be tired and my blood work was perfect and I have no deficiencies but I am so tired all the time. I am travelling for work right now and normally get a lot of work done in my hotel room at night - I was in bed just lounging at 5:30 and stayed there all night and could barely get out of bed this morning. I find I have no motivation for work either - I am completely forcing myself to do things. Anyone else have this? I think I need to start moving my body - even just walking, but so tired to even do that.

i'm sorry to hear this. I imagine forcing yourself to walk may actually help, but thats a total guess.

Please keep us posted on your journey as I am a few months behind you and would love to know how you work this out should happen to me.

So sorry to hear this Leeann. That's not fun. I know how it is to not be able to even lift a finger. My problem is low vitamin B12. I always know when I need the shot! I hope you can get some help with this and I wish you all the best.

Good morning Leeann,

I was getting my energy back and began walking up to 5 km. without difficulty. After my stint in the hospital last week and back to work on Monday, I could lay my head down and sleep on the hard surface of my desk.

I find that when I do walk, or exercise in general, I have more energy - the chicken or the egg scenario. If I'm tired and force myself to go for a walk when I get home from work, I am more energized and sleep better. If I go to bed early or just lay around my bedroom, I wake up tired.

Orillia is a little far from Grand Bend, but I'd go with you if I could. I need to take my own advice and start back tonight. I hear you though and wish you lots of energy for this beautiful few days to come.

Hi Leeann,

Do you get a copy of your lab results online? Even though the doctor says they're perfect that might be for a non-WLS patient.

I've read several posts from the vets that say they need to keep their B12 and Iron levels much higher than normal or they feel like you're describing.

Also as Linda wrote (I think) the more you move the more energy you'll have. Maybe easier said than done, but start with a little. You don't have to go out and do 5 km but what about getting off the bed and walking the halls of the hotel a couple times? Or at home up and down the lane or even a block or two.

Last night I was so bored and it was darn cold out but I forced myself to go out and walk even just to the side road and back (I live in the country). Every little bit will help.

I don't recall ever seeing you post your menu, how much protein are you getting in? What are eating? That could affect your energy levels too.

At any rate, I hope you're feeling better soon!

As Ginny said please check your iron levels. It is very common to have low iron after wls

I hear you Lee-Ann! You have a much busier schedule than me! I know you have a very heavy work load, could that be an issue?

I'm almost hoping the doctor tells me I'm low in something next week at my 3 months post op appointment, because if not, I'll be in the same boat as you. I feel the same way. Not sure if some of us need a bit more time than others, but I would have thought by now I'd have way more energy, especially since I'm carrying way less weight since surgery, I'd think that should be a bonus lol

Hoping both our energy improves very soon!

Try and take it one day at a time. You could go see your GP and see if further investigation is warranted.

Good luck!

Amanda
