KIDNEY INFECTION
Hello all,
I wasn`t feeling well last weekend and went into the doctors on Monday morning. I thought I had a kidney infection (not a UTI) and it was: fever, right flank pain, nausea. I was sent to the hospital for blood work and a CT scan to ensure it had nothing to do with my WLS surgeries. I thought they would give me some antibiotics and I could go home. They hospitalized me until Thursday giving me IV fluids and antibiotics, as well as trying to break my fever (not until Wednesday).
It`s hard to know what is a normal illness that you would get before or after the surgery, and what may be more targeted to those who have bariatric surgery. And as much as I thought I could go right back to work, my doctor really did know best and I needed the time in hospital - just didn`t want to go back.
Even though I was drinking lots, my urine became darker and a bit odorous. It didn`t hurt to void, but there was pain in my right lower back and front that became increasingly worse. These are signs to look out for as we are drinking so much. Unfortunately, the infection spread to my bloodstream which will just take a bit longer to fix.
I'm feeling much better, just tired. Now back to eating my normal plan although I missed a couple of days just feeling so unwell.
Tomorrow is our 30th anniversary so I`ll spend the day with my hubby (didn`t go camping this weekend as planned), then back to work. Again, life is good!

I hope you're feeling better; I know you had a rough start. As others have said, each day is a bit better. Just give yourself a break and take each day as it comes. You have had major surgery and it takes time to heal.

Thanks Linda, today does seem to be better than yesterday. I'm going slowly, trying to follow all my instructions to the T.
ibmust admit, in a little overwhelmed by how many pills I'm taking. Vitamins I was prepared for, everything else was a surprise. I've made myself a chart to ensure that I'm not missing anything.
