Not drinking 4 opti a day
I was only able to consume 3/day
I had no issues as a result of just the 3

I'm pretty sure it's so you get all your nutrients and calories in and to promote healing after surgery. You don't want to go into a major surgery with a weakened immune system. There was a couple days I could only do 3 shakes but generally did all 4 and never had broth.

I think it's important to get all four in so you're getting all of your vitamins and minerals in for the day. I'm on Opti much longer and I've been told that it's important to get all the protein in for the day too to prevent muscle loss.
That said, I missed my fourth yesterday because I fell asleep earlier than I should have.

Hi Lisa,
Don't worry, the first day is hard for just about everyone. It does get easier, and the opti will taste better as you get used to it.
I would try to get all 4 in, because the 4 a day ensure that you get all of your needed protein, vitamins, and minerals, to prepare you for surgery. I was on it for 3 weeks and only missed one shake one day, when I was at the ER all day for a bad cough.
I always mixed mine with just about 500 ml of water, and 4 or 5 ice cubes in a shaker bottle. The water had to be ice cold or I couldn't stand it. I know you don't like it cold, but maybe try it icy cold to see if there's a difference.
Some people add decaff coffee crystals to cut the sweetness. Ask your center if the cocoa is OK; they may be OK with it, but they may tell you no, so it's better to be sure. I was asked to give up my herbal teas which was hard.
Good luck!

Im on day 2 extra water helps reduce sweetness intructions say mix package with 1-1/4 cup water I found it too sweet so usually add 1-3/4 cup of water. You need all 4 per day to maintain healthy muscle mass and nutrients. We were told at Guelph be sure nothing is left. I split the 4th for morning and afternoon snack.
its not the best stuff I've had but it's ok and part of journey.

Hi Camperguy.
Thanks for the reply. This is my day 2 as well. Surgery on June 20th.
I add 400 mls of ho****er and 1/2 tablespoon of coco (10 calories) to mine. It is ok this way but by the time I get to the 4th one at night, I just can't stomach it.
Someone on another board told me to split all 4 drinks into 3 there for getting all the opti but only 3 times a day. I will try this tomorrow and add maybe 500ml of water and the coco to see how that goes.
Keep me posted if you have any opti secrets. I have mostly chocolate but I do have 2 boxes of vanilla.
I will do whatever it takes to get to the next step, I am just looking for a more tolerable way to do it.
Good luck on your journey.

I would call the office and ask, but I'm scared your not getting enough calories in throughout the day, I sometimes missed my last pack but not every day! Maybe split the one pack and have 2 snacks in between your other full packs. Did u get vanilla? If so try mixing decafe coffee(1teaspoon), coconut extract ( a couple drops), some cinnamon and some ice! This how I drank every single one after I played around with them! Best of like! Your body may go into starvation mode with out enough calories!

Hi Lisa,
There were 6 days out of the 14 days while on opti that I consumed only 3 shakes. My surgery was a success and no one ever said if you only drank all 4 shakes things would have gone better. Some of us find the 4th one hard for whatever reason...mine was I just wasn't hungry.
I am 3 months post op 63lbs down and I turned out okay. Post op I would say do your best to hit your protein numbers and obviously all your vitamins.
Enjoy the journey and don't stress!!
Good luck
