Water questions

I just had my 3-4week post op appointment. I am able to generally drink 3litres of water a day. The Dietitian said that was too much and it could stretch my pouch, and that I should only drink 1.5-2L. I have no discomfort drinking and wake up with dry mouth so I like to get in fluids. Everything I have read says tha****er just goes through. Just wondering your guys opinion and if anyone else had a Dietitian say this to them?

Hi

I was my understanding that liquid does not stretch the pouch....

I was drinking 1-2 litres of water & a litre of Costco liquid protein shakes @ 3-4 weeks.

Thanks for your replies! I will take their advice but I was just curious because I always feel thirsty. Maybe it's because I used to be a big pop drinker. I know once I start working again it will be more difficult to ge****er in anyways.

There is no way in My opinion tha****er/Fluid alone would Burst the pouch. Think of it as a tube without restriction... Water flows in...and keeps on going. That is why we are allowed to drink up until meal time, but are asked to wait 1/2 hour after eating so as not to flush the food out of your pouch.

If anything, it's gulping/chugging I think they ask us to avoid but again, water would just flow through unless you just ate a meal.

I think you should speak with the nurse practitioner or your surgereon. Water supposedly just slides on through. As long as you're sipping (not gulping) there would be no way for it to stretch your pouch. Such a weird thing for the dietician to say/comment on. You would think that such a grea****er intake would call for an applause!
