Gas
Hi guys!
Had my surgery on Thursday and I'm still in the hospital. I should be out today (I'm making this post really early because I'm not sleeping super well) because I'm doing good with my fluids and walking independently. My one issue right now is gas...
I have burped a lot but only passed gas (if you know what I mean) about three times. I'm walking a lot... but it doesn't seem to want to move. What else can I do?
Ask for a warm blanket and hold it over your tummy or wherever you have gas pains. Should help relieve
TWH: Referral May 2015 --> Orientation November 2015 --> Surgeon at TWH Nov 2016 --> Transferred to Guelph --> Surgeon Appt Dec 1 2016 --> Opti Start Dec 8 2016 --> Surgery Dec 22 2016 HW: 331 SW:302 GW: 170
It took me several days before the gas would head for a southern exit, lol. I used a heating pad on my tummy when I got home and that really helped soothe the pain, but most of my pain was from the actual surgery, not gas.

I hope you are home now recovering well from surgery.
I was in the hospital for two nights, and I was worried going into the Friday that I wouldn't get released because I hadn't passed gas. I was told I wouldn't, until I did. Luckily it happened, but it took awhile for passing gas to be 'normal' if you know what I mean. I remember burping a tonne the first few weeks. I still burp more than I did before, but way less than after surgery.
Nurses told me just to walk that helps moves things along. Your body is recovering so it might take a bit before everything is operating normally.
Wishing you a speedy and healthy recovery!
