I returned to work this week. I work as a PSW in a nursing home where I have to lift/repositions residents on a daily basis. I took 8 weeks off to heal from surgery. I'm happy to be back, but my back, legs and feet are killing me! I know it will get better as I get back into the swing of things. The getting up @ 4:45am hasn't been easy lol.

I weighed myself this morning to find I was up 2lbs. I have been on track with my diet, but I haven't made it to the gym because I have been so worn out and tired after work. Hopefully the gain is from my new routine.

Has anyone experienced a gain when returning to work?

I am not at the point you are in the journey but I'm wondering if the gain isn't simply muscle gain. If you took 8 weeks maybe it is just that you are rebuilding muscle you lost. I hope this is the case

Maybe it's water retention from being on your feet so much? Wait a few days and see if it goes down again.

try not to fixate to much on the scales. We go up/down in lbs almost hourly I find.

When our bodies are put under any stress they immediately hold water (for survival). Your body will realize soon enough this change to your routine is nothing to stress over and let the extra water go :-)

I find the scale can fluctuate during the day 1-3 lbs depending on when I weigh myself, if I've gone to the bathroom and had a BM, what I'm wearing, if I just drank/ate a bit, etc. So I wouldn't worry about your 2 lb gain.

Could just be the change in your routine. Maybe building more muscle up again since a PSW is a very active job.

It's also interesting to me. I am from London too and a PSW as well but only got 4 weeks off to recover after surgery. It is crazy the differences between the surgeons and clinics.

How did you manage to get 8 weeks off?

I asked my family Doctor, she gave me a note for work and filled out the paper work for E.I.

I wanted to make sure I was 100% before I went back to work.
