Lapband to RNY - Single or Multiple Surgery

Hi Everyone

I was wondering if those who went through the Lapband revision had it removed and revision in a single surgery or if they ended up having to do 2? I have seen a few posts that were done together but I am trying to get a better idea on likely hood. Obviously each person is their own case but still knowing what the norm is helps a bit.

I know from my Endo that it has not perforated but I do have a bit of swelling in the area.

Also in cases that it is 2 surgeries, how far do they space them out?

I had my revision on May 16.

I BEGGED to have it done in one Surgery. Different sites do different things, my understanding is that Toronto will do it in one surgery but that's all I know. I was fortunate enough to get the surgeon who placed my band, to remove and revise me. He was willing to try doing the surgery in one attempt, but he warned me that if there was too much damage or signs of infection (apparently there can be infection without us knowing) then he wouldn't be able to do it.

I am so glad it was done in one surgery.

I have also had surgery for Endometriosis but I really have no idea the status on that at this time. It seems to have improved a bit since I had my daughter.

I had mine done in 1 surgery at TWH - I was briefly transferred to Guelph - and the Drs there insist on 2 surgeries - I think it may depend on the hospital and surgeon - I had zero problems or complications - so very glad it was only 1 surgery - I can't imagine having to go through the gas pains twice so close together.
