MY GP IS HAPPY ... AND SO AM I!
I just had an appointment with my G.P. who had recommended that I look into the Bariatric Program through the University Health Network so that he might recommend me. At the time he told me it was my decision and if I just went to the orientation, I could either continue on to the next ste*****t go back.
Jump ahead a year later, second visit with him after surgery at the 6 week mark. My blood pressure is normal, my hemoglobin is back to normal, my iron is still elevated from the I.V. iron received in hospital, but down by half when taken a month ago and I am down 24.2 lbs. since our last visit on April 6th. I don't know who was smiling more.
I don't need to see him for another three months and although I will be going to my follow-up visits at TWH starting tomorrow, I am thankful that my own doctor is pleased with OUR decision. Healthcare is a partnership. When he said that some of his patients have gone back to their old habits, I told him vehemently that I would not. He smiled and said, "I have no doubt."
I am motivated, inspired and truly thankful. What a great journey to be on!

yep. truthfully didn't think I'd break 170. the 160's are kicking my butt

I had my 6 month check up a few weeks ago. normal across the board here. Not the case in my pre-ops.

The doctor asked me what weight I would like to get down to. Like you, I've set two goals: 175 and 160. I remember weighing 175 and felt fantastic and wore about a size 11/12 (before kids). I told him I would strive for these numbers but success would come as I continue to follow the program and maintain whatever weight. I'm 5'6" so I see a lot of similarities and know I'll have my share of butt kicking (maybe it will reduce its size) - lol.

Referral to Guelph Feb/13, Sleep study and all bloodwork and ultrasound May/13, orientation July/13. Nurse, NUT,SW Sept/13, 2nd NUT, nurse and SW, 3rd round and cleared for surgery Dec/13. Pre-op Apr 7/14, Surgeon May 2/14, Opti Jul 3/14, surgery Jul 17/14.
