I have to agree with White Dove... I never felt full early on. I still don't feel full now unless I have eaten something that didn't agree with me. Mostly dense proteins cause that full feeling.

I have chosen to stay away from starches. I would stay away from mash potatoes. There are many more better food choices.

When I was at your stage I progressed to poached egg soft, scrambled eggs soft, Greek yogurts, Baby Gerber Oatmeal, bananas, Prune baby fruit, blended meatballs, Guacamole, blended lentil soup, blended Italian soup with cheese, blended vegetable soups, Western whipped cream cheese, ricotta cheese, humous... Chili when you are further out. RIo Tuna in olive oil mixed with avocado.

I have to admit that I still eat all that!!!

Greek yogurts twice daily are my friends! 12 grams of protein and only 80 calories.

Keep up the great work

Hope this helps !

Thanks, they all sound like good choices.

I am glad that not feeling full is normal - I was worried the surgeon did not make my pouch small enough. I am not over eating by any means, I just thought I should feel something - a different kind of head game I guess.

yes, loving the yogurt and the sugars free syrups, although I am hardly using any syrup as sweet things are just too sweet. Which I also find to be a problem with the chewable vitamins - they are almost too sickly sweet.

too bad I can still smell chocolate from 50 paces, and my mouth still waters - I have banned all chocolate from the house as I swear the mini eggs were calling my name, I resisted but why keep the temptation.

I had issues with hunger after my first week post op. I had to do three weeks of full fluids, so can't speak to the pureed phase.

I found when I drank full fluids they didn't keep me full for long. I also realized during my second week, that when I started using water enhancers my hunger went overboard. They can stimulate hunger. Not sure if you are using them...if you are you can try not using them and see if they made a difference.

It did make a difference for me; however I still felt hunger it just wasn't insane hunger. I'm not going to lie, three weeks of full fluids was very tough, I felt hunger off and on because fluids don't stay in your system long.

I started my soft protein diet two weeks ago, and things have improved greatly! Eating food, and good protein high food choices will fill you up for hours (or at least it does me), and be much easier to deal wtih. Getting through the first month is tough, but it does get easier!

Hang in there! Good luck!

It is the weirdest thing isn't it? I am on pureed foods - I don't get hungry or full.

And now almost 3 weeks out, I really don't feel different at all from before surgery.

I had the opposite problem with feeling too full too quickly; it was hard for me to get my protein shakes in at first. Very hard.

As time went by it got easier, but it's only recently that I've had days where I felt hungry...but not the same hunger as before; it's just a "oh, I need to eat something" feeling.

I have a few days where I can eat more now, and they are usually followed by days where I can eat less. I call them hungry and full days, but they aren't the same as hunger and fullness before surgery. It's just...different.

When I was on purees, I loved refried beans, ricotta bake, Skyr yogurt, cottage cheese, and I ate a LOT of pureed chicken mixed with low calorie ranch dressing, yogurt, and hot sauce. It was my favorite meal. I also sometimes had oatmeal mixed with skim milk, and then added premier protein to it to up the protein to 22 grams. I didn't eat it every day because of the carbs, but on days where I was going for longer walks, and later bike rides, I really enjoyed it.

What do you do with the retried beans - just heat and eat or did you mix them with something?

I am not sure I am hungry, I certainly do not feel full, and eat only to meet the guidelines as best I can.

I have noticed when I get busy and forget to eat, I get wicked headaches, just like on Opti at the beginning.

I tried the refried beans plain, with some salsa, with salsa and greek yogurt, and with salsa and sour cream. I liked them best plain. It was my first taste of something savory after the shakes and yogurts, etc., and I really enjoyed it. I never liked them before surgery.

I should have mentioned, I probably felt too full on the liquid stage because I had inflammation. When I progressed to soft foods, I had too much pain, and my surgeon had me go back to full liquids for 2 more weeks. Then I had to do purees all over again too, before I could progress to soft foods, and now, finally, food for life. I was a slow healer.

I get headaches if I wait too long to eat too.

I just microwave them for ease. Then top with a tsp of salsa and either a little shredded cheese or plain greek yogurt. It was nice because, to me, it tasted like 'real food' after surgery. My nut recommended it and it was a good idea. Don't stress because this all gets easier as you go along. I'm only at end of month 4 now and it's all just habit now, for the most part.
