I did it! Post op 4 days
I finally made it to the losing side. What a long journey it has been. Almost 1.5 yrs. For those of you still waiting, hang tight, the day will finally come. Overall I feel pretty good, just getting used to my new routine. The only complaint I'm having is painful gas and bloating, especially later in the day. Any suggestions?
The only thing that seems to help with gas is walking and moving. It will get better.

I was surprised to find that it was 6 days despite walking for the afternoon bloat to stop feeling as bad.
The first bowel movement also provided immense relief and was using milk of magnesia 15ml every 8 hours to start and then twice daily and now once daily upon the recommendation of my surgeon.
I also guessed that either I was swallowing air or the pouch due to its new size and shape caused a lot of gas production when eating and drinking. Yes, even while sipping and not using straws.
I really needed to slow down and time between each 30 ml. I also found the gas x strips worked for me, so i figured it had to be me not postoperative gas build up.
Warmer foods (soup) for me cause a lot of gas build up, for others people it can be cold. It was also really bad when I tried things that my pouch did not like, like unsweetened fruit purée and cottage cheese.
I still get a lot of belching after I eat or drink anything, despite going slowly and still get a minor unpainful bloat towards the end of the day but am hoping with healing that too will improve. I am only 11 days post-op myself and can assure you things do improve.

do what you need to do to get relief! I will remember that one when I am post op, but didn't you find it hard to get back up, I would be scared to get stuck and that would be even a worse visual! LOL
