Got my surgery date-Guelph!

So excited! I met with Dr. Bhojani today and was booked for surgery for May 9th! He was very nice and explained everything very well.

Im on 2 weeks of optifast. I was a little surprised by that because I have lost 40 lbs but in the end I figured that's not the big picture and it will help to put my mind at ease knowing it will lower risk of complications and also $200 is just a drop in the bucket compared to all the money I have spent on weight loss stuff in the past.

Anyways I'm so excited! I feel like my life is about to be all over again

Woohoo! So happy for you! Congrats on losing 40 Lbs on your own; that's terrific! The Opti will help shrink your liver and you'll lose even more weight :-).

I liked my opti best with lots of ice. You've got this!

Congratulations! Awesome job on the weight loss before surgery.

Its great to see your timeline for appointments. I am about a month behind you so gives me an idea of when I hopefully may have surgery.

I will be watching for further updates.

I'm so glad it went well. He is very nice and competent. The two weeks of Opti will just help you further; congratulations on your initial weight loss. That's fantastic.

If you have any questions, just ask. There are a lot of previous posts as to how to make your Opti more drinkable (I liked ice and blended it well in a personal blender), as well as what to pack for the hospital (very little - I didn't even use my own nightgown, housecoat or slippers).

Congrats! Losing 40 lbs on your own is amazing. I had my surery in Guelph 4 weeks ago today, staff is amazing! Your in good hands.

Wonderful news. I hope I am cleared for surgery after my next appointments. How long after you were cleared until you met the Surgeon?

A week! I was cleared Wednesday April 5th. I got a call late last Friday because he had a few last minute openings and I met him this morning. Surgery is booked for May 9th. So just over a month from being cleared. I'm not sure if that's because he had some cancellations and I know every surgeon is different but it moved very quickly once I was cleared.

The fact that you have lost 40 pounds before all of this is just amazing! You are really inspirational to me. I would like to lose 25 before my surgery (I think I have a few months yet). I will continue to track my food, stay within a calorie range and walk every day. I have heard that the lower we can get before surgery, the lower our set point will be. Thanks for posting your info. Really happy for you.
