Opti day 1
Hi everyone
Day 1 on opti... Had to drink chicken broth twice. And jello one.. Drinking lots of water. 2 opti to go for the day... I was told to drink 4 per day...
Very anxious.. Makes me want to eat more. But i know i cant and I didnt.
A very mild headache... Did not take anything for it.
Opti when mixed with somethig like coffee or coconut extract its ok..
Always trying to figure out why I want to eat... Always asking myself if Im hungry or anxious or bored.... It helps a little.
I think the fact that today is my day off its not helping...
Hopefully tomorrow will be less difficult.
Surgery on the 24th ...
Got to find something to keep me occupied when im not working and when kids not home...
Just keep thinking that im almost there. ...
Sorry .. But I had to let it out...
I have support at home but I figure I would get way more help and support from ppl that went throught it already.
Thanks for reading
J

I promise it will get easier! I was on opti for 18 days and I have to say I miss having it! I found the perfect mixture that I liked and drank it everyday the same way! I used only vanilla opti with a teaspoon of decafe coffee, coconut extract, and cinnamon! Loved! I didn't even like coffee but u can't even tell that much that it's in there! Oh ya and ice! I am 8 weeks out now and wish I could have one lol! U can do this! In no time it will be time for u to head to have your surgery and u will look back and say well that wasn't that bad! Best of luck and try and keep busy so your not focusing on the food around u!

Days 1-3 are the worst but then it's smooth sailing. It helps keeping busy.
Utilize the chicken broth and jello. They were lifesavers for me during the Opti phase. The warm broth made me feel like I was 'eating a meal'.
You've got this!!

Referral October 2015, TWH; Orientation Jan 6/16, NP - Apr 7/16: SW- May13/16, Nutrition class May 16/16, Nutrition assess - Jun 16/16, met with surgeon Oct 21/16 High weight - Dec 2016 - 298 lbs. It gets better, and you may grow to like it. I did, and thank goodness as I was on it for 3 weeks, lol.
I was also allowed 1 cup of green veggies like celery, green pepper, and broccoli. I found that helped on days where I felt hungry.
If it makes you feel better, I'm almost 10 weeks out and have never felt crazy hungry since surgery. I do get a bit hungry, but it's the gentle, "Oh, it's time to eat something now" type of hunger and not the crazy "Eat now or die" type of hunger I had preop, and on the first few days of opti.
Soon opti will be a memory; it goes by so fast.
