Caffeine...
My understanding is that caffeine stimulates acid production in the stomach. Which on its own, shouldn't cause an ulcer, but there's plenty to show it doesn't help.
I do think this is more important for vsg than rny, but like NSAIDs, I'm avoiding anything that can lead to trouble down the road... but I do eat a lot of spicy food...

I never thought I'd see the day where I didn't have at least two Timmies Triple/Triples in my hand but alas, I gave up the Caffeine for the reasons stated and now love the Decaf and don't have to worry about drinking it. It's all in the mindset I think. Same goes for Smokes, Diet Coke, Chips, Ice Cream, and all the other things I've cut out from my new lifestyle change.
Good morning
I have to agree with Insert Fitness
I had my 12 week follow up with the dietician & I asked once again.
It is very important to stay away from anything carbonated, caffeine, Alcohol & NSAIDS because they do tend to increase acid production and it messes up and irritates the integrity of the lining of the stomach long term.
She went on to say that once in a while wouldn't BUT quite honestly I am not going to do anything that would. I am not going to do anything that compromises the integrity of my pouch. As always this journey is a life time of hard work and commitment.
Take care
