Question for the vets re: bread

I know most if not all are against eating bread. However, I found this protien bread which I keep frozen until I use it because it is 4.00 a loaf and a loaf is 6 slices and they are thin like weigh****chers bread. However I love it! Makes an amazing roast beef sandwhich. Of course because of the price it is not like I will be having a sandwich every day. But do you think once a week would be ok to have two slices of this bread. I have put a pic of the bread and the nutritional values below. I await your response.

I should also add I am pre-op. I am trying to get use to the new lifestyle and start eating what I should be eating post op.

I agree with this 100%. I sometimes have sprouted break with avocado on it for breakfast. And I know a ton of people who eat english muffins - or half of one.

The other day I ordered chili at a restaurant and it came with the most delish garlic bread I have had in a LONG time.

After surgery, it's really about moderation and making sure you eat the right foods first, since you can't eat a lot. It doesn't mean you can't ever have things like bread (or even pasta) again as long as you can tolerate it.

You are being smart by looking for more dense protein bread.

I'm pre-op too, but interested in trying some of the high protein breads out there. Question- is that one made with wheat flour?

I generally feel and look better when I avoid wheat. I love the Dimpflmeier organic 100% rye breads with 0 sugar, and I was interested in trying their protein bread but it's made with wheat flour and for some reason no shops carry it here in Kingston.

For a pre-op, I think it's a good choice. Maybe try using 1 slice cut in half and filling the sandwich with more meat and lettuce, tomato, etc. The stats are for 1 slice, and 2 slices seems a little high in carbs and calories.

I love this bread too. I think the protein and fiber negate the carb factor. You're right it's expensive but when you want a high protein sandwich, it's a good choice. I order it from the Low Carb Grocer.
