how long before you feel your pouch?

I understand the nerves were severed during surgery and that is why I cannot feel my pouch. How long does this typically last? Will I just suddenly have pain one day, or sensation of fullness?

Thanks!!

We were told at TWH it will take about a year to feel hungry or full. So even after you go back to work the healing will continue.

Hope this helps!

It's important to stick to the guidelines for volumes that come from your Bariatric Centre. Some never get that full feeling again. For some of us there are signs that we have overeaten. These signs can include, sneezing, hiccups, food coming back up our throat, discomfort. I would not let it get to the point where you get these signs. It takes a long time to heal, and you want to make sure you are doing everything to let this happen. Treat your new tool with care and it will last you a lifetime ;-)

Thank you! I have been careful to follow my plan. So far things are going very well.

How would I know if something was stuck or not tolerated? Have I just been lucky so far and because I have been so careful with chewing I just haven't experienced it?

Thank you! My plan says 1/2 - 3/4 cup and I've stuck to that too.

Congrats on your weight loss in 11 weeks - that's awesome.

3 months out. Oh I sure know when I am full. It is a completely different feeling. But if I don't listen to it something is going to come back up! Has only happened once, but I do not want a repeat. So if I feel 'the new full' I stop eating.

The feeling is one of pressure. If I have eaten just a touch too much, and that can vary day to day, I feel almost slightly nauseous as well as the pressure.

So far no pain. Even when something got stuck.. everything just came back up. With no notice! So rude lol.
