DAY ONE: OPTI

A funny start to the day. Last night I went out with my husband to Bulkbarn to get the suggested Lorann oils (raspberry, orange and Amareto), picked up my unflavoured, non-thickening fibre to put in once daily, and picked up a bag of ice. I packed my personal blender for work, 3 envelopes each of the vanilla and chocolate, my decaf. peppermint tea and a tupperware container of ice. I had a small Greek salad for dinner along with half a glass of white wine. I was ready.

Well, I got up at 6:30, decided to start off with the chocolate, added extra water and the ice and poured it into my glass. It tasted good. I may be a freak, but even without the flavouring, I quite liked it. Then I knocked over the full glass of Opti over, onto and down the counter, onto the floor and into my son's lunch bag. Too funny really. I cleaned up and made a vanilla. I'm keeping in mind Laura's comment that some days you don't get in your full four servings.

I am SO ready, happy and thankful. Today is a good day. Thank you to all who provided their "Opti advice". No more food mourning - at least not today!

Great news Linda. You will be wondering where the time went once you get to the last day of Opti.

Make sure to have SF Jello and Broths at the ready for those times you get cravings. Those two items got me over the hurdles as needed. You will do great on this, I just know you will from your preparations.

Again, like we have all found, hospitals have different guidelines. Guelph only allows 1 cup of broth a day - no jello. You know life's changing for you when soup broth is a treat - lol.

I hope you are continuing to do well Wayne - give us another update when you can.

Update already posted today :-)

No Jello? That's odd, well you have the broth at least.

i find everyones experience so interesting as every one is different. i had no left over opti and was hungry the WHOLE TWO WEEKS... i believe we are told to get the 4 in a day for a reason... i never was satisfied but others have boxes left over which i dont understand how... but hey!! we are all unique! i am glad you are enjoying it... think of the big picture afterwards!

I am a week into opti, and I have been drinking the chocolate without flavouring. It does taste not bad. I actually like the taste. I've heard lots of different opinions on the taste of opti, and at the end of the day, if you enjoy the taste its a bonus!

I can't wait to be done with Opti! I'm not having the greatest time on it, but I've stayed strong! Some people really like this phase, not me lol Counting down to March 15!

Good luck with your opti!!!! You'll do great.

Hey Linda, I hope your opti pre-trip to surgery is a success, I start this coming Sunday and I'm freaking out how I will survive @ work, I work in a nursing home and my job is very heavy and I rely on food as fuel, the nurse ensured me that the protein in the opti is going to get me by, fingers crossed!
