I've got pneumonia
Thank you. I feel a bit better, but still not great. Today will be day 3 of antibiotics and the pharmacist warned they take 3 days before I'd start feeling better, so hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Hi, thanks for asking. I'm doing better than I was last week, but still on bed rest. I had to get extra antibiotics. My doctor said I may feel crappy for a month. I hope not.

So, after 15 days on the antibiotics, I had a massive allergic reaction about 36 hours after taking the last dose. Rash from head to toe. So now I am taking prednisone for 2 weeks to heal the reaction. Totally messing with my weight loss ... haven't gained, but haven't lost in almost a month. And generally just feel crappy. Doubled up on the probiotics and hoping that I am on the road to recovery. Still have a touch of the sinus congestion but nowhere near what it was.

Oh no, that's terrible! I"m so sorry you're going through this. Did your doctor give you a protein pump inhibitor to protect your pouch from ulcers from the prednisone?
I usually am given prednisone when I'm sick too but refused it because it was so soon after surgery and I was worried about developing an ulcer. My family doctor agreed, although the doctor at the hospital was angry with me, but then agreed too.
Prednisone is so hard on the system, but definitely works miracles to clear up problems quickly. I know it feels awful to not lose weight because of it; thank goodness you didn't gain weight. My weight problems began with prednisone. During my first year of teaching way up north in Moosonee ON, I was put on very high does of prednisone for the entire year (1988). I went from size 9 to size 22 in one year due to prednisone and struggled with weight ever since. I never had a weight problem before that (but thought I was fat at size 9...crazy!).
