Protein shakes!
Hey everyone, I am looking some info on purchasing a good protein shake! How much protein should be in a serving? How many calories should be the max?, How many carbs? And how often should I be drinking them? As I am through the Guelph site and was never ever told about drinking shakes! I hope some of u can help me with some info on this matter! Thanks!

Hi Angela
I've always liked Lean fit powder from Costco. 24 grams of protein, whey isolate, 120 calories when mixed with warm water. I prefer the chocolate but they also have vanilla. Thin, not thick. Easy to get down. My go to.

A lot of people use premiere protein from Costco, I haven't tried it.. I am with Humber Humber said we can use it but it's protein blend so u really don't know how much protein ur getting.. Gnc has a good one called whey isolate splash taste like juice coming in different flavours. After my surgery I used it to make popsicles, it's really nice in the summer throw in few ice cubes u got refreshing drink. The only thing I find with it it's on the sweet side so I use 24 ozs to one scoop good way to get ur water in.. can't remember the stats but it under what they recommend for us.

Hello thanks so much for the great info about the isolate whey splash, I went to Costco and bought the leanfit whey protein and got home and didn't really like it yes it's better then most but I can't stand the milky feel or taste! So thank God my husband will drink it even though Costco said they would return it no problem! I went to GNC and gotta the whey isolate spla**** is so good! Yes it's expensive but when u figure it out I paid $80 for the big container instead of $50 for the little one. The big tub will make at least 75 shakes so not even a dollar for a shake it's well worth it! It taste like blue Gatorade! Thanks again!

Pop into gnc once in while they always have buy one get one 50% they just had the sale couple weeks ago so I am guessing they will have it on again around may or June..
then lean fit u might be able to add other things to make it taste better, if u got the chocolate u could add banana, or cocoa and decafe coffee. If u got the vanilla u could make a smoothie with it milk and mix frozen berries.. but with the splash I like making popsicles

Hi Angela,
I pick mine up at Costco. I went with the Kaizen Whey Isolate (big yellow tub). Each scoop has 35g Protein which I mix with 250ml of 1% milk or skim milk when in liquid stage.
I also have the Premier Protein ready made shakes for when I go out or need one in a pinch. Each shake has 30g Protein.
Both types come in Vanilla and Chocolate.
I prefer the Vanilla in botj but Premier Protein ready shakes are available in other flavors..Costco chooses to only carry the Chocolate and Vanilla.
I think Women need around 60-80 g Protein/day ??Carbs and Calories are diff for everyone but most around here seem to shoot for 6-700 Calories/day, focus on Protein. Don't get hung up on the carbs other than to stick with good carbs.
