Surgery dates

I have noticed (from reading posts) that some people have had meet the surgeon appointments around the same time but very different surgery dates (for the same site). What determines a surgery date?

Luck of the draw it would seem. Or unluck in my case.

i don't know if it's across the board but i think it goes on surgeon availability. And then cancellations come up and they just move the next person into the spot, I don't think they call everyone else back who had subsequent appointments and move everyone up. (I don't actually know this as a fact, but that what it seemed like to me) that's why it's seems so random.

The only think I can say is rushing this process is like watching a kettle boil...it just seems that much longer.
