HI everyone! I'm new to this site and this bench since having my surgery on friday in ottawa. My goodness this feels great! I'm so happy to be done with the three weeks of opti and now I'm just sipping clear fluids as often as possible. Is there such a thing as too much Liquids?  I'll have to track my volume better today. I just wanted to come on a post a hello to everyone and thank you all for your lovely words of wisdom while I was getting ready for surgery. You all are so very helpful :) Any tips on sipping fluids without gulping air? I'm sure I will get the hang of it sooner than later ;)

Hello Emily. I have a book and I write down 3 columns and down in each is every 15 mins. Ie 6, 6:15, 6:30. Etc. I do that for the full day. Then every 15 minutes I have an ounce of water and check mark it as I go. For my meals, it will take half an hour for a cup of jello so I mark that in for the time period. Or. 10:00 - 10:30. Jello. At the top of the sheet I have 8 marks for the 8 cups of fluid I have each day and mark them off as the Colima add up. Works for me. I have a shot glass, my book and a bottle of water with me everywhere. I'll see if I can post a pic

Welcome to the lighter side of things.

I am also with the Ottawa WLC. The guide encourages us to drink as tolerated.

To avoid gulping, I tend to swish water in my mouth first although I still catch myself taking a full mouthful once in a while just to spit some out or I just swallow a bit a time.

Thank you for the advice Wayne. There sure is a lot of air in there that still needs to get out :)
