Finding a support group or coffee group has been key for me.   I am active in the Bariatric community.   Answering questions for newbies and keeping in touch with veterans.

I am far from perfect and own my choices.  When I slip back into old habits I try to get back on track.   Small steps rather than trying to change everything all at once.   Some weeks just focusing on water intake is a goal I'll set.   Next week walking an extra day, etc.

I know the foods I can't help but indulge in.   I have made a conscious choice to not have them in the house at all.   For me I can't 'just have one'.   No such thing as a couple cookies or a few crackers.   For me if they aren't there I find better options.   That being said other family members shouldn't have to go without.  Luckily I am on my own now.

Planning is key.   When I go out for the day or even eat at work I pack stuff.   Pre-portioned.  My boyfriend laughs at my 'cooler bag',  but I always have something just in case the food at a restaurant isn't suitable or we can't stop to eat when I need to.

The are very used to this.  Apparently it's quite common for the surgery to bring it on early as well like in my case, and I was freaking out thinking I was internally bleeding!!I figure  first few days  and the whole hospital thing is miserable anyways .....so you might as well have it then. Be aware that surgery can also really mess with your periods after as well.

The nurses won't care or mind at all, but make sure to let them know so they can get you the mesh panties, lol.
