If he is at the hospital waiting or any famiky member they are given a pager that is good anywhere in the hospital that sends them updates and even tells them when you are in recovery.  It also pages them when to return it and the surgeon will either come out and chat with your family or I caught hubby's surgeon on my way in returning the pager.  It's an awesome system there.

I don't have a cpap either so it means you will likely be on oxygen for sleep.

I go a week tomorrow.  One last week of opti...but truly it hasn't been too bad.

Congratulations!  It will go so fast after meeting your surgeon; at least it did for me.

I had surgery last week and it was my first surgery as an adult (I had my tonsils out when I was little). I had no trouble waking up (except I asked the to let me sleep 10 more minutes, lol), but my oxygen did drop a bit and I was on oxygen for 2 nights and 1 and a half days.  I also have severe chronic asthma and had been sick the week before surgery, so it was expected.  The oxygen brought my levels up enough that they felt OK letting me go, and I guess my asthma meds did the rest.

They kept me an extra night because I was getting lightheaded and faint when I walked, but the nurse told me she thought the pain killers were too strong for me, so we cut the dose in half and I did better after that, so I think she was right.  My blood pressure also went too high, but that was because I had been 4 days without my water pill, and it went back to normal after I took one.  I can't take them every day because the surgeon was worried about dehydration, so I'm taking them every 3rd day for now.

Good luck!
