PORTION CONTROLLED LUNCH BOXES
Although I tend to eat the right foods, portion control has always been a problem for me - especially carbs. such as pasta, potatoes and rice. I have cut these (reduced them) for the most part and am concentrating on lean proteins, fruits and vegetables. I recently bought a Rubbermaid "Lunchblox" which has a main compartment, two one-cup boxes, and two half-cup boxes that sit on top. The whole thing has a lid that has a handle on top for easy grabbing.
Have any of you used them for eating out and how successful have you been. For me, it has been so easy to plan, prepare and pack the night before and eat appropriately throughout the day. I have been packing hard boiled eggs, cut veggies, yogurt, fruit, or cheese and nuts in the smaller ones, and a salad or half a wrap for lunch in the bottom. It is also great for chili, chicken and vegetables or other leftovers as it can easily be heated up.
Changing to this has really helped and as I operate my own business, I can take one of the compartments off and eat at my desk. One can also be used for your vitamins that you need to take during the day.

This is not an issue I am having currently (see my post on worrying about not getting enough in) However before surgery I loved bento boxes. I loved their little compartments and attractive look. I hope to use them again once I start eating enough to make use of them :D

I guess it's more for those who are trying to make positive, sustainable changes prior to surgery.

I've seen them and I think they would definitely help both pre-op and post-op. Newly post-op they'd not be useful as you can barely eat 1/2 cup total but at over 11 years post op, I could easily use that to keep portions under control. The bottom one would be great for salad then the little ones you could put your meat in and cheese or other toppings. Can also use some of the ones on the top for snacks. Doesn't have to be for just one meal for those that work outside the home, most need snacks and lunch while at work so it would be useful for packing snacks and your lunch very conveniently. Many use bento boxes that are very similar to this. I found a small dinner plate early out really helped and many buy the Corelle smaller plate that is divided into 3 sections so they can manage portions as well. Whatever works for you is a good tool.
I can't recommend the Fitmark highly enough. It comes with protein shaker, place for vitamins, leak-proof and microwavable contains, ice packs, place for silverware and water bottle. I used it when I worked and now use it when I go to the pool or gym for a day. I have taken it on planes as my personal carryon, instead of a purse.
