I too, gained weight before I started optifast. I went through Humber River. They never said anything about my weight fluctuations. I think (could be wrong) once you're approved.they don't undo that. I would talk to them at your next appointment. They are there to help not just judge. Also, try not to be so hard on yourself. We're all in the same boat.

Thank you for responding sneezy6145.

I guess we are all in the same boat.  I know I am not alone in this journey, I am just so scared it will not happen in the end.  I have gone downhill so much in the last year it is really scaring me.

But....I am making 2017 MY YEAR, it is going to be all about me and getting healthy.

I gained 5 lbs pre op. Mix of injured foot so could not exercise and stress eating.  I did make good choices and changes to my diet and habits and the nutritionist was totally understanding.  Did not set me back at all.

Thank you for responding IamBettyCooper.

I did have surgery recently and that led to a lot of fast food dinners as I found it hard to cook and do dishes with one hand.  This is not an excuse, because I could have been better prepared and froze meals.  I had plenty of time.  I suppose it was pure laziness.  But it is in the past and going forward will make better choices.

Could it be water weight?  My weight normally fluctuates 3-5 Ibs daily due to water retention.  I take a water pill but if I'm not careful to read food labels and consume something with too much salt, it goes up.  If I forget to take my water pill it goes up even more, but will come down again after a few days.

Others have mentioned food tracking; that would be a big help, and since we'll have to do it anyway after surgery would be a good way to get into the habit.

Good luck!

I'm glad I came across this thread and I'm not the only one who worries about drinking water after the surgery. I love water and take huge gulps of it now. I'm going to miss that but the surgery is the most important thing to me right now as well as following the rules afterwards.

Right after surgery gulping water could be painful.  After a few weeks, the swelling goes down and you should be able to gulp water again.  Just don't do it for 30 minutes after meals.
