Just joined, now what?
Hi there .......and WELCOME
A panni is a bare basic stomach surgery procedure for removing skin for medical reasons. Most people want the full tummy tuck with all its aesthetic benifits......but they are expensive and not covered.
So you are from KW, about 30min from me. Unless things have changed clinics were assigned to you according to your postal code...and yes Guelph would be your clinic I believe.
I wish you well. There is soooo much to learn. Spend time reading though this site. It has tons of info and a search bar on top will lead you to most anything you want to research. People here are more than happy to answer questions and help where they can.

To be a bit more specific. You will get saggy skin on your stomach top and bottom. A panni only removes the part the hangs down over your privates/thighs.
It is better than nothing! I really wish they would cover more, they cover a few things that deal with body issues etc. Excess skin can definitely affect body issues for some people.

So far 80 pounds lost!
Hey something_has_to_give!
Welcome to the site.
Yes, don't worry about what the old doctor said. As smart as doctors can be, it is still the uneducated about WLS ones that won't help patients. The advancement in medicine and technology has come so far from when doctors used to slice patients down the belly and muck around with their innards. Some doctors just don't realise that.
Yes, there will be a chance of regain.... to some extent. Even I am up a couple of pounds from my normal. But I know where that came from, and most importantly, I know how to correct it.
One way to help you with your own concerns is to educate yourself.... you know what I mean... learn as much as you can. Pros/Cons... what to expect... what not to expect... It may not rid you of your terrified feeling, but it might put you at ease a little.
There are many of us here that have had similar experiences, and different situations... you should be able find the information you are inquiring about.
You can ask us those nitty gritty questions. :)
Again, welcome to the site and the best of luck.
Cheers,
Skotti

Good for you Something...getting on the forums right away. Perhaps you want to do some homework before your next doctor appointment. Besides using the "search" key, the little magnifing glass near the top center, also go to the Ontario Bariatric registry where the general programme will be outlined.
If after you do your searching on this site (& I challange you to find any topic that has not been covered...and I mean anything ), and you still feel WLS will be an appropriate tool for you, you can go into your first doctor's visit armed with some knowledge and show you are being proactive.
This journey is hard work and involves constant learning about yourself, but the biggest component is YOU need to be in control.
Welcome
Thank you!
One of my biggest concerns is that I'm not always eating because of hunger. I think I use food to stuff down emotions....
So how do you handle THAT, after surgery? Do all your emotions just overwhelm you? How do you change those habits?
I truly don't think most obese people eat for hunger, it's so so so much more complicated than that :(
