Really missing hot chocolate

Every winter since my surgery, I've tried to find a hot chocolate substitute.  I can't handle artificial sweeteners but I can tolerate a small bit of sugar.   I don't love tea and I already drink too much coffee.

Any ideas for hot drinks that might fill the void?  I was thinking maybe some kind of ginger/lemon ho****er combo...

Swiss Miss (from the states) makes a sugar free hot chocolate.  What about warming up a premier protein shake and making it a hot chocolate?

Good to hear from you.  What about unsweetened coca powder added to warmed milk and then add whatever sweetener you can tolerate.  Twinnings has decaf pumpkin spice tea, or you could get a nice chai tea and add the sweetener - maybe stevia.

I'd suggest trying some different davids tea blends. I know they have some chocolate flavored. I found their roiboos with bergamot with a bit of cream or milk added makes a cozy decaf London fog. They also have a chai that is great in the winter. Not all teas are created equally haha. I also like lemon in ho****er.

Agree with this! The Hot Chocolate tea from David's was in my tea advent calendar and it tasted great! It was a black tea I believe, so some caffeine but not a ton (and I'm pretty sensitive to it).

Stash makes a decaf tea called Chocolate Hazelnut and I make a latte with it, no need to add sugar or sweetener.

The Unjury chocolate protein powder can be made in to hot chocolate by adding it to heated milk...but not hotter than 140F. I bought it when I bought my vitamins (Opurity)...always handy to have some on hand.

Unjury also has a chicken soup flavoured protein powder that is another great hot option.

Good luck!

Presidents Choice has a nice chocolate chai tea ... I have that a lot.  I don't mind Stevia so I also make hot chocolate with milk and cocoa powder and just a bit of stevia.
