What are you eating/doing Thursday?
I think those have so many names.....similar to magic cookie bars ...you know with Eagle brand milk, coconut, chocolate chips? AND YES!!! straight from the freezer are the best....likely because that's how I had to eat them as a kid, because my momma would "hide" them in the freezer!! I made a pan of these last weekend! Taking a bunch to work today because I know they won't get eaten at my house. I've had my traditional one square and that's all I need. Hubby doesn't like chocolate so he wont eat them so off to work they go!
Haven't posted for a few days, but here I am again!
3-4 bottles of water
2 chocolate premier protein shakes
2 tablespoons of jello
1/4 cup of strained cream of mushroom soup
I don't know what's normal for intake 11 days post op but I still struggle to get in anything more then 3 bottles of water which is 6 cups, and 2 premiere protein shakes. I try jello everyday and still only manage about 2 table spoons. For dinner it is usually a little less then a 1/4 cup of strained cream of mushroom soup. I have tried fat free/sugar free pudding and I can only handle about 1 tablespoon at a time, same with low fat/high protein cottage cheese and low sugar/fat free yogurt. I've discovered unsweetened applesauce is my newest enemy. I was told you don't have dumping syndrome with the sleeve but the 2 times I have tried applesauce have been a nightmare. I had all the symptoms of dumping with the exception of actually dumping it. I was hot and sweaty, my heart was racing, I had the shakes and headache and felt nauseated and then I vomitted the little bit I had in my stomach and continued to dry heave for about 20 minutes, not my idea of a fun time! (The first time I thought it was a reaction to a new medicine I was on so that's why I had it again and then realized it was the applesauce that caused me to feel like I was dying)
On a positive note, this morning I was down a total of 40 lbs since I started optifast and 14.6 since I had surgery.
Have a great day everyone
Thank you.
I've had people tell me I should be taking 1/2 - 1 cup of whatever I'm having per meal. I just can't. I still feel a lot of resistance when having jello and cream soup so the little bit I have is fine. The water and protein shakes go down eaaier now. The soup is always stone cold before I can fini**** and the Jello is returning to liquid before I'm done. Even the paper work says I should be eating 1/2 cup of oatmeal thinned with 1/2 cup of milk...I know if I maintain the 3 bottles of water and 2 shakes I'm getting the proper fluid and a fair amount of protein in daily to prevent any problems at the moment. I feel like a baby when introducing foods again. I take the tiniest lick and wait and then a tent tiny more. I have yet to actually feel hungry so the teaspoon I'm having here or there is more then enough for now!
For the first month I had trouble getting in more than 1/4 cup. You are doing great. Your new stomach is healing so don't pu**** In my opinion 1/2-1 cup is way too much at this stage. You probably won't feel hunger for a long time (some never do). The nerves are still healing and some surgeons cut the nerve that makes you feel hungry (Vegus nerve sp.) I could never eat the amount of oatmeal or cream of wheat that they told me to. My food was always getting cold before I finished it. Take it slow, you have come such a long way in a week. You really are doing well.
