Serious regrets

Oh no, Cinderz, what a terrible experience for you. I'm so very sorry. I hope you will feel better soon, and that your pain and nausea will be alleviated. I hope someone will be able to get that throat spray for you that others have mentioned, and I hope it will help.

I've watched lots of youtubers who've had great results with the sleeve, and even though it wasn't your first choice, you won't have to worry about vitamin malabsorption.  My surgeon told me on my video conference visit that he would try to do the roux en y but once he's "in there" he may have to switch to the sleeve if he feels it would be a better fit for me.  I guess there must be factors that only come into play once they're looking inside of us.

It really sucks that you weren't able to meet your surgeon before hand, and only saw him for a few minutes afterward.  That's awful.  So is feeling like the nurses aren't listening to you or taking you seriously.  There is no excuse for treating you that way.

One of my biggest fears is the intubation process.  I actually called Valerie (my surgeon's receptionist or nurse, not sure exactly) after I read your post to ask her about it, and she said I can talk to the anesthesiologist about my fears when I go for my presurgery visit.  I have severe chronic asthma and my throat often constricts and tightens and I can't imagine how awful that would be with a tube.  They're going to have to do it after they put me under, or else give me some ativan first.  I hate going to the dentist and have anxiety about it, not because of pain but just from the water they spray and feeling like I'll choke, and intubation just seems like the dentist times 10 to me.

I hope that every day will bring you relief, and that as you rest and recover you'll feel better and stronger and more comfortable with your decision to do this.  Vent all you want; there are so many people willing and able to support you.

Big hugs,

Kathy

I am pretty sure the tube goes in after you are out and comes out before you wake up.  At least that is what happened to me.
