Hi there, I had my surgery in Guelph, Dr Reed did my RNY 2 years ago. At goal, lost 180.

Loved Guelph, small hospital, easy to park, I guess compared to TO! Depends on where you live, how you would feel. Clinic is right across from the hospital.

I see you wrote that Guelph does not endorse optifast. That's what I used for 2 weeks prior to surgery, and it is standard to everyone currently unless there is an allergy to aspartame,

I am happy to answer any questions you have, pm me!

Well as of yesterday - they do not promote Optifast - they have their own program - which is Carnation Instant Breakfast with Protein added - however if that is what the patient wants - they can use it - she said I can use Slimtime - but I may go to Carnation - I know they taste good :)

I had a lap band for 3 years. I had it taken out last year (2015),in an emergency surgery after almost a month of not being able to eat or drink anything. I begged for then to do a bypass, but while they were in there they found tumors ( of course not caused by the band -eye roll). So they were not able to do it. I went back a month later to have the tumors removed.

I had to go to my family dr to refer me , and i finally went for orientation at Humber at the end of Oct 2016. i have been told ( by some friends) to ask to be referred to Guelph , because i have been waiting so long for anything to happen. I have called Humber to see what the wait times are, and they told me 4-10 months before any appointments are made. I don't know if the wait times in Guelph are any different, but i dont want to waste time switching between hospitals.

In the meantime, i have put on almost 70lbs waiting and i cant seem to get my weight under control.

I think Guelph is probably the fastest at this time - but not sure - I started my process at TWH last Feb - and will have surgery there now Jan 23rd - it was thanks to a lot of cancellations - I think I switched every one of my appointments except for orientation - even my surgery was a cancellation - so I switched back to TWH.

Good luck - the waiting is the hardest part for sure
