Update - first night at home

I know how much these types of threads helped me when I was wondering how things might go.  And I wanted to give you lovely people an update!

First day after surgery went well. I was up and walking around that night.  Had no issues sleeping on my side (my preferred method)  No issues sipping water.  Next day not so well.  When they took me off the iv pain kills and switched to oral the pain was a fair bit worse.  Still up and walked, sleeping was the hardest.  Still no issues with the sipping.

Was discharged yesterday and came home felt pretty good.  Tip: If possible don't get driven home in a sports car with stiff suspension.  That HURT! First thing I did was shower.  Felt so good, had my partner stay in the bathroom with me in case I felt dizzy or unstable.  Sipped water and tried a bit of tomato soup with protein powder.  Only got 3 table spoons down, due to taste.  Pouch was fine.

Went to bed last night at 6ish, so tired.  Was wide awake at 5 am lol.  Had some rice pablum, that was good.  Pouch fine again.  Will make a protein drink to sip later to get my protein in.  Haven't had any pain meds since yesterday midday and feel pretty good.  (they were giving me headaches)

A note about my stay at the hospital.  The surgical team was fantastic.  I have never been so terrified in my life!  But they were good, the anesthesiologist was cracking jokes.  They really went out of their way to put me at as much ease as possible.  The nurses once I was back in my room were mostly good.  My roomate's nurses were not as good.  Don't be afraid to be the squeaky wheel!

Hey Dundreggen!

Congrats on the successful surgery. Keep doing what you are doing. Walking and sipping is key. Glad to hear that you are off the meds. Good luck!

Cheers,
