3 week STALL *F U*

 Hi

Soooo I been ghost lol sorry. I wanna talk about the 3 week stall. All week last week the scale refused to move. I got depressed as hell.

I had it hard to get my water and food in... I forget to eat ... it's so crazy I have no desire to eat. But I do take my protein shakes when in doubt. The only problem is I need to be puree'n something so I get more calories so I can lose. This journey is not easy one bit. People wanna rush and don't even know the emotion that comes with this. Yes I lost a lot of inches (5 in 1 month) but now the scale won't move n I get so mad. Gotta just keep my water up and deal with it but the stall really hurts.

Did anyone else stall at 3 weeks... I heard it's normal but I hated it

Pray I lose 6 pounds this week. Yes I said 6 lool.

Hi There Eva!

Congratulations on your success so far! I'm 6 weeks away from my surgery, very excited- but trying to prepare myself for these challenges you  and others talk about. I'm not sure I understand when you said "so I get more calories so I can lose". Do you not loose unless you get a minimum number of calories?!? Is that one of those "my bosy is in starvation mode, so it's holding on to fat"?!?!

Good luck

For the first few months the weight *for most* drops off easy. We slowly introduce ourselves to food again and eventually we have to get a certain amount of protein and calories a day which will prepare you to lose more weight later in the game. I'm only 1 month put so really I just need to get the requirements the doctor said to me n my water so I don't get dehydrated.

I was in the hospital twice last week for dehydration so the doctor gave me orders to get certain things in. Not everyone's journey is the same. But following what the book or doctor says is a must

Hi Eva,

One week without scale movement isn't really a stall.  Stalls last for weeks sometimes.  Keep doing what you're doing and remember to take your measurements on a regular basis.  Often the scale isn't moving but your inches are!

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!

The week three stall is definitely a thing for many people. I went about a week and a half of the same 1/2 pound or so going up and down. My one comfort was knowing I was following the program, so there's no way the weight wouldn't drop eventually. I don't think I would increase my calories, just make sure you're hitting your protein targets and drinking plenty of fluids.

im still only 2 months out, my weight fluctuates a lot from day to day, but I can see my weekly trends are always downward, so that is fine with me.

try not to get too discouraged (easier said than done!) just keep following your plan. It will happen!

How much did you lose pre-surgery/ 80 lbs in 2 months is amazing!! And what's your overall goal? I want to lose 140 to 150 lbs total, although my centre said 110 is realistic. I guess I will see when I get there.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

77 lbs lost and counting!

Losing the regain! I got this!

Hi! I lost 32 pre op. 16 of that was while on opti. The rest was from starting to practice the wls habits. Month 1 was 23, month 2 was 18. I've been really happy so far.

I don't have a goal weight at this point. I have a bunch of small milestones I'd like to reach along the way.

A dietician at my clinic said a final weight of 230 was what they statistically predicted. I think that is too conservative, but I kind of get why they said it, to manage expectations. I would like to get under 200. Once there, I'll reassess.

Hope your appointments are back on track?

Week 3 and still puree?

I'm going on week 3 now nd I've started things like tuna and hummus and really most chicken and cheese. I still do one shake a day bc of protein.

My NUT wanted me to start w 2 tbsp at each meal but depending on what I'm eating i can do the full 1/2 cup.

I've been feeling really weak and dizzy lately like even walking up the stairs is a chore and I think it's dehydration because of my child so I've started doing one part juice to 3 part 4 parts water. That's helped a bit.

How often are you getting on the scale?  After the water weight and fluid build up from surgery comes off, all there is to come off is fat and that takes more time.  Unless you are over 300 pounds, 2 pounds a week is all you many be able to realistacally expect to lose long term - and if you are menstruating, that loss will not always show up every week, and if you are older, your weight comes off more slowly.

Decide on what your relationship with the scale needs to be - you do not want it ruling your life as in the old pre-WLS days.  Investigate some new hobbies for when the weight comes or to help the weight come off, to give more balance to your life.

Sometime around 6 months out, so you are a little early, but it may help you, many people benefit from transitioning from a number goal to a desire to have a healthy and happy relationship with food and your body.  That goal helped me when I had to transition from the exciting 2 pounds a week steady loss to the tedium (same amount of effort, but no weight loss) of maintaining. But, I have to admit that zipping up my skinny jeans with room to spare has become its own reward!

AND OH, HE##, YES,  F*@^ that b!!ch scale.
