Help...With Plastic Surgery
Good day everyone,
After 4years of keeping my weight lost (was 400pounds) my skin has taken a toll on my body and mental state. I work out seven days a week, & now the skin is affecting the quality of life, example where in the middle of a meeting, I excuse myself to put powder to cover the smell, & make sure I don't have any sores from the massive overlapping of the skin hanging on my body. My question to anyone is have you had successful skin removal from your body and it was covered by OHIP, & may I ask who was your Plastic Surgeon, & for what reason did they give to OHIP to have it covered. I'm looking more for my thighs and legs. Please let me know as soon as possible. My Plastic Surgeon is at the submittion stage for the request of OHIP. Thank you Anita

Only things ever covered are panniculectomy and breast reduction if you meet the criteria. The plastic surgeons know the criteria and they will submit only if they think they have a case. I would have qualified for OHIP to cover the panni portion of my tummy tuck but the wait time back then to see a surgeon who worked with OHIP was a long time and I was able to afford to pay out of pocket for it all so I went that route. Names of surgeons that work well with OHIP are Dr. Nandagopal out of Scarborough and there is one in London that I don't recall the name (Matic maybe). Ottawa had at least one but don't recall his/her name either. I have never seen legs covered ever.
Hi there,
I had plastic surgery in Ottawa. I was referred by the OWMC to Ronnie Borsuk -- he has his own clinic, but also works out of the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus). If you need a referral, the clinic can help you with that.
I had a full tummy tuck, and had my arms and legs done. Like you, I started out over 400 lbs, so lots of loose skin. He was successful in getting OHIP to approve the panni portion of my tummy tuck. For the rest, it was out of pocket.
I was happy with my results. I think it also helps that I work out a lot...so the results, particularly the arms and tummy tuck were great. I have considered the breast lift/removal of extra skin, but not sure...
Good luck!
