Hunger/weakness post op

So I'm a weak +3 post op and I'm on puree. I'm having a hard time getting three 1/2 cups at meals plus the water and protein in between.

I'm still maintaining between 50-60 g of protein though...but I'm feeling hunger and weakness these past two days. Like even walking up the stairs is exhausting.

Anyone else go through this?

Yes, from what I read on these boards it's very common. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. If I venture out on little shopping trips it exhausts me. But hang in there, it takes a while.

I was able to be out all week, didn't feel this tired. Maybe it's catching up to me now.

3-1/2 cups is a ton of food at 3 weeks!  Your meals should be protein forward and likely not more than a few ounces.  Supplementing with protein shakes in between.  Do you log your food?  Also dehydration could make you feel tired.  Strive to up the water its very important.  Any non-caloric beverage counts towards your liquid totals.

I could be wrong but I read it as 3 1/2 cups so 1 1/2 cups in total, 3 meals 1/2 cup each time?

If you're right, and I simply misread, I will maintain that its too much food so early out. I'm 7+ mos out, and can't often get in 1/2 cup of dense protein, and so early out the protein should be the main focus.

It would help to see a typical day as logged into MFP to provide better advise.

The puree diet suggests only 2tbsp of protein food and the other quantity as veg for ex. But I'm avoiding that.

For ex, on a day I'm able to get in the 3 1/2 cups....it looks something like this.

Breakfast: just under a half cup 1% cottage cheese + a tbsp sugar free jam

Lunch: 1/2 cup puree lentil soup with added mushrooms in the puree

Dinner: 1/2 cup puree lentil soup with added mushrooms or just under a half cup with a triangle or two of laughing cow cheese melted in to make a half cup

What i struggle with is that all this food makes it nearly impossoble to get added protein between breakfast and lunch or even the reco water and the only way i can get it in the evening is if dinner is late. Then i get hungru after dinner....sometimes i add a sugar free pudding cup.

Have you tried any meats pureed?  they are more dense and should keep you fuller longer.  You can always add unflavoured protein powder to anything your eating to up the protein number.  What about scrambled eggs?  I don't like cottage cheese so can't speak to the protein content in that.  I also ate sheppards pie in the puree stage.  Good for  you for avoiding veg, protein is they way to go so early out.  I still don't really eat veg unless its in something, or I'm having a little salad with protein on top, but even then eat the protein leave the rest if there is no room

Are you on a PPI (for acid?) if not that could be making you think you're hungry.  I'm confused when you say you can't get added protein in why is that?  You're original post says you're hungry?

Hang in there, things should get better!
