Question about Pureed Stage
I have been wondering, while in the pureed stage, does anyone know what calories we should be getting a day and is it still 60-80 grams of protein? I start pureed tomorrow, but I don't want to overeat. I am so glad to eat some different foods. I am still confused as to what is allowed. At TWH the food list only mentions cottage cheese for cheese for wxample, but then for food to avoid it indicates hard cheeses. Does that mean laughing cow is ok?
I had my surgery in Ottawa and was told basically anything that would slide off a spoon. This included cottage cheese, yogurt, and scrambled eggs. In addition, I made cauliflower cheddar soup, lentil soup etc. You still need to meet your protein goals, and will still be supplementing with shakes. I was pretty conservative with reintroducing reall food. I'd have about a quarter cup of whatever I was trying at lunch. The other meals and snacks were still protein shakes. Since it was such small servings, I wasn't too worried about calories or carbs in each dish since I was eating so little.
Overall, my goal was to stay under 500 calories per day.
Good luck!

Hi Deb007!
For me, I ate "normal food', just in a pureed state. I make pork chops in a Mediterranean sauce - then pureed it. I made baked sole with a lemon dill broth - then pureed it. I even had salad with a vinaigrette - then pureed it.
Of course, you don't eat a lot though. When I made it, I poured it into ice cube trays to freeze. When I wanted some, I popped out 2 or 3 and reheated them. And for the amount that I was eating, I did not get in all my protein, so I tried to make up for it in shakes.
As always, check with your clinic/dietitian first. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Skotti

I would not even think about the calories just concentrate on the protein number and follow the TWH nutrition book. I am also a TWH person and have done everything "by the book" and so far so good. Puree only last two weeks so just keep your eye on the prize and step away from the Laughing Cow till it is OK to eat it. Have a great day.
