So upset
I'm heartbroken right now. I had posted before that it took over 7mos before I even had my orientation. now they(Sudbury) are saying it's going to be 7 mos before I have my first one on ones. There is nothing holding it up on my end. All my tests are good. During our orientation they said surgery would be in about 6 months from then. I expected it to be awhile but everybody seems to be going through fairly quick at other locations and Sudbury is taking longer. I'm so upset.
i went threw Sudbury too it took me 5 months to get orientation and another 7 to get 1 on 1s surgery was 4 months after 1 on 1's. in total it was almost 17 months from referral to surgery. I am 17 months post op now. The reason it is slower then other centers is because they only deal with 1 hospital and 2 surgeons and they have a larger patient area. People from Sault Ste Marie and all the way to timmins, North Bay Etc... its becoming more popular and with 1 hospital they run out of surgery times fast. Its disappointing but to be honest the time went by faster then i thought. In orientation they shouldnt be telling you surgery will be in 6 months.

You can request that your referral is transferred to any centre.

When I transferred I started over from orientation, but am further along at TWH then I would have been at Humber...so for me it was a good decision, but depending on the person it may or may not be.
Oh I really hope thats true. Not just because I want it quicker but because it feels like Sudbury is not giving me accurate info. I'm losing faith in them and this is such a major surgery. At orientation they freaked me right out because they mentioned that a will and power of attorney should be completed. I asked them what the morality rate was for the surgery and they told me that 3 yrs ago it was 1 in 200, but they weren't sure what it was now. My own nurse Practitioner told me the actual stats were like .1 in 5000.

Suggesting a will and power of attorney are not reasons for a red flag. Everyone should have one, going in for surgery or not. The stats have always been stated as 1 in 200. Not sure if any new studies have been written with new numbers but those odds are still pretty damn good. As for Sudbury, I have nothing good to say, it's a clusterfuck and then some. Doesn't seem to matter how often they change staff, they are terrible, completely unorganized, things are always lost, etc.
Just be aware that if you transfer to another centre, that it's going to take 1-1.5 years from now. You have to start all over again. That is concerning though about the mortality rate and asking for a will and POA. My centre hasn't mentioned that at all!
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
I'm just unsure how long it will take going through Sudbury since so far it's looking like 6 months between each contact with them. everybody else seems to be completing appointments 1 every 2 mos. and people who are going directly through toronto are getting things accomplished at a more reasonable time.. maybe I'm reading there medical history wrong though?
