protein shakes post op

Hi everyone so i'm reading my nutrition binder and i'm wondering how does anyone drink a protein shake after surgery...i haven't even had surgery yet and a protein shake makes me so full i feel like exploding!  what am i missing? is it only a half serving or is it spread over 1 hour to drink?  i feel like a moron i just don't get the "sipping"...

Find a shake that is not as thick.  The ready to drink shakes tend to be thicker I've found.  You can also water the shake down.  Drink small amounts.  You can add a vanilla shake to your coffee or tea as a creamer.

Are you having RNY? If so, you no longer have the pyloric valve at the bottom of your stomach so liquids will continuously empty from your pouch. It is a slow process, especially at the beginning. I struggled to get my fluids in -- I think they said to aim for about 50mls every 15 minutes, or something like that. It literally felt like a job trying to drink fluids all day for the first while.
