TWH Surgeon dates

Apparently, TWH is very behind with surgery. Dates are 4-5 months after the appointment to meet the surgeon.  I spoke with the cinic this morning.

I noticed you're just starting the process- it may not be so bad for you. Apparently they are in a transition period - they used to do surgeries at other hospitals but going forward all the surgeries will be at TWH. Hopefully they will have worked out all the hiccups by then. :)

I didn't realize they wouldn't be using the other hospitals...I hope that doesn't slow the whole system down for everyone.

They told us at my orientation that they were doing that.  I hope so as well.  It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense, I mean clearly the system is backlogged already.  How many life-saving procedures require a year to year and a half wait?

That's unreal - what happened to the province's strategy to increase access to surgery!?

I know. And Ontario is probably the fastest province. 

OH NO!!! I just met with the Surgeon last week and was hoping for a January- They wouldn't give me a date, they said their "system is down". That would be a shame. Thanks for the update, I called yesterday and they haven't returned my call. 

Keep trying! The girl I spoke with today was very nice.
