Timelines in Toronto

I was wondering if folks in the GTA would be willing to share how long it took to go from referral to surgery? My doctor gave me a referral in January 2016, and I went for orientation in May. I met the social worker at the end of July, the nurse practitioner at the end of August and I have a nutrition class October 24. When I asked at the nurse appointment when my nutritionist and psychologist appointments were, they seemed surprised I hadn't been give those appointments yet. So I spoke with the person at the desk and he booked my nutritionist appointment in November and the psychologist in January. It will be a year before I even finish my assessments. Does that seem really long to anyone else? It feels like many of you had your surgery done in less than a year after referral, or am I just exaggerating things in my mind?

It varies.  I started with my referral May 2016 and I go for my surgery ed class on Monday.  I am going through Windsor though. 

My friend in Toronto was 18 months from referral to surgery.  

1.5 years at Humber it seems it's closer to a year and a half than a year

yes... that seems about right.. I was told it would be around a year from the orientation date.. I was referred in march 2016...orientation in june. and my last appt before seeing the surgeon is the beginning of jan..   I'm hoping to have the surgery sooner than june/july... but even then won't be too bad... Just hard to wait that long..lol

13 months total at TWH

My Orientation was at TWH at the end of April 2015 and surgery was on October 4 2016 that's almost 1.5 year    

My orientation was Dec 5th 2015 at Toronto Western Hospital. My surgeon appointment was in June 2016. My surgery is October 25th 2016 so 10 month for me. It really varies. Good luck on your journey

Hello Eva, I must have been in your Orientation class! I just had the pre-Surgery consult meeting last Friday and they wouln't give me a date, saying their system was down :(

I'm thrilled that you managed in 10 months! Can I ask if you called the clinic a lot to encourage along the process?
