 Hi,

I am new and gave my orientation class next monthin Guelph. I understand that Sleep Apnea testing is standard and I am going to guess that I probably have an issue. I do snore and my husband says that he has heard me 'stop' before.

So my question is this, if I do have sleep apnea, will it prevent me from being approved?

Not it won't. I would suggest if you suspect you have apnea is get your gp to refer you for a sleep study now. Btter to be assessed and treated sooner than later. If you have symptoms they will send you for study. If hav'e apnea will need cpap. Why wait

Thank You. I plan on stopping by my GP's office this week to get them to set up any remaining tests.

No, it will not decrease your changes of WLS, actually it might help you get WLS.

It is sooooo very important to get a sleep study done and get treatment.  If your BMI is under 40 or over 40 a sleep apnea diagnosis along with your compliance using a CPAP will meet requirments for surgery.

Hi, I'm through Guelph and having sleep apnea was one of my comorbidities that helped me get approval.  You will probably have to do a sleep study.  One of the things that I had to do was bring my CPAP machine to the hospital when I had surgery.  One year after surgery, I was told that I no longer have sleep apnea and I could stop using the machine.
