Hi, im new to the forum and just got referred to the BMI clinic. I was told that I could be referred back to the Civic if I wanted, but I was happy to not have to search for parking for pay the parking costs at the Civic. Did you like going through BMI? My husband went through Civic and loved it, but I haven't heard much about peoples experience through BMI.

I have to say so far so good. No complaints. I like that I can meet with the full team in one go and no waiting for appointments. They're always on time.

I'm over 5 years out from surgery in Ottawa.  Last time I was in for a check up, they were estimating 18 months from orientation, but that's an estimate.  It will also depend on your specific situation.  Some are quicker some are slower.  At orientation, you can ask what the current estimate is.

The surgeon will go over your options with you, and through the process, you can ask them about alternative medicines for your back.  If they can't give you any that work, then that's helps you with the sleeve.

Wish you well on your journey,

Cathy

Hi,

I am scheduled for my surgery at the civic in Ottawa next Monday and it took about 12 months from my referral date to now.

Although their standard surgery is the roux en y they will do the VSG if medically necessary. They decide case by case.

Good Luck!
