Congratulations to you both on your upcoming surgery! Way to go on pre-planning your meals for yourself ... I had lots of soup on-hand as well as even pureed some chicken and beef for the freezer when I went to pureed foods.  For me it was all about the planning, I needed to make it easy on myself and I live alone.

As for what to bring to the hospital (TWH)... I brought too much! I brought my cell phone, tablet as well as the chargers, a book, a nightie and housecoat and slippers  .... all I used were the slippers and the cell phone to call my family lol. They gave me another hospital gown to put on backwards as a housecoat ... it worked perfectly fine.  I was only there two nights,  I just needed my toothbrush/toothpaste, brush/comb, etc.,  my cpap machine, something loose to go home in as well as a pillow to travel home with (place that against your tummy as it helps with the bumpy roads).  I didn't shower at the hospital ... it wasn't that necessary as I still felt human. I had a great roomie and we were always walking the halls when we were up as that helps with the gas and healing.  I wish I had of taken a small roller bag rather than a soft sided carry bag ... just for ease of use.

Remember to sip, sip, walk, walk and make music (aka fart) lol . Best of luck!!!!

You'll do great.  For me bringing earplugs to the hospital helped me get some rest.  There are always noises and they come in and check through the night so earplugs were what really helped, but also a sleep mask if you are bothered by light.
