Slimband Patients?

It is awful. The way they "sell" the band is terrible. My consultant basically told me that my entire life would change, I would be able to eat whatever I wanted and never have to worry about food again(I KNOW now this sounds unrealistic, but when you're vulnerable and desperate to lose weight after gaining and losing 100lbs three times you will cling to whatever hope is offered to you!

I would never ever recommend slimband!

My band is definitely tighten even after a year. I have never gotten sic****il recently and it makes me terrified to eat incase of the damage that is being caused.

I will definitely follow through with attempting a different surgery. But keep up trying to lose weight on my own.

If you are looking to get a revision, you will need to have a Doctor or RN send in a referral to the Central Bariatric Registry and go from there.  You won't be able to go directly to the clinic.

Thank you. I did have my doctor make a referral, I have heard the wait times are very long

It depends on which centre you are assigned to as to how long the wait times are.  Ottawa's average is 18 months from orientation to surgery.  Some are quicker and some are longer.  For some it takes longer as there are other issues that need to be sorted out first.

It may look long, but it goes by fast.

Fortunately I don't have any other weight related health issues. However I suppose removing my band would be a bit of a barrier.

I am in London, Ontario so I am not sure what kind of wait time I am looking at, but the time will pass anyways!

I just had my band removed last month and revised to bypass at the same time.  I had my band for about seven years,  it was an expensive lesson. The wait time was just over a year from orientation to surgery, but it will pass quickly enough. I've noticed the TV commercials advertising "new, lower rates" for Slimband now, which makes me think less people are going this route.  Anyone know how much the procedure is now?

Very expensive lesson.

It is now being offered for $12,000

What??  That's quite a reduction,  I paid $16,000. Now that they are taking so many out, Slimband might be defunct in a few years.

I know, a huge drop in price.

I have a feeling they aren't doing very well.

There is so many complaints about Slimband surfacing online.

I'm having my band to bypass revision on October 4, 2016.  I'm traveling to Montreal to have it done by Dr. Christou.  You'll want to make sure you have a surgeon who is experienced at revisions (ask how many they've done).

I got my band in 2005...terrible experience could go from not being able to swallow water to being able to eat a steak in the same day. Terrible acid reflux at night and then eventually it stopped working all together (no longer holding a fill).  they should tell you that they all will eventually fail.

So happy I've made the decision to get this thing out of me.  Dr.  Christou warned me that I may have too much scarring to do a bypass, in which case he should be able to do a sleeve. hoping the bypass works.
