Old habits die hard...

Not sure if any of you post op people did this too,  but I am finding I don't know how to plate food for me.  I am using smaller plates and silverware but I still put too much on my plate.  It's classic case of my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I have to learn how to portion my food.  I do plate way smaller portions than I used to eat,  Pre surgery, but It's still too much.  My dog is a lot happier cause she's been getting more people food than she ever has. I guess I will figure it all out, in time.

are you weighing and measuring? Don't just eyeball it, use measuring cups and a scale :)

I don't have a scale but I was using measuring cups. I stopped after the first month since all the "directions" I had stopped after that. I should go back to using measuring cups.

For those who don't know my story, I am still having liver issues. I still have the drain in (over 8 weeks now). My liver is still draining a lot with no signs of stopping. I have a test on Tuesday and hopefully this will help get some answers if I have to have another surgery. Anyway, because I'm losing bile I need to drink more than a normal person does. So, I drink constantly. It's easier now that I am able to drink more than a medicine cup full at a time.

So anyway with the sadness of my situation I got depressed and stopped measuring my food. I'm not worried that I eat too much, I fill up fast. I'm just on the learning curve still and wonder when it will become second nature to see such little food on my plate.

Thanks for reading my story :)

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues. I hope it gets resolved soon. Measuring is a good idea. I'm sure your dog loves the leftovers :). My husband does too!

You definitely need to be measuring and weighing your food. I just got a new scale at Walmart yesterday for 14 dollars.
