Referral timeline?

Hi folks! My GP referred me about 6 weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything back, and I'm not sure who to follow up with. Have any of you lovely people been referred recently and can tell me how long it took for that first contact to get started? I'm in Toronto and beyond ready to get going! 

I would start by checking with your GP receptionist to make sure it actually happened....,for some reason paperwork sometimes just goes missing .

You should be getting forms in the mail to fill out with a date for the orientation and will need to have the forms filled out and returned b4 the appointment date. You should receive this within 6 - 8 wks but like suggested I would confirm with you GP office to ensure there was no issues with the referral.

It took me about 2 months to receive my letter in the mail.... if you know where they are sending you to... you can call to see if they know when your orientation is.... but you will receive everything in the mail...  but yes... check with your doctor... as I had been to him to be referred.... but it was another 2 weeks before his office put in the paperwork!!

I hadn't even thought about the time to get the paperwork in! Fingers crossed that everything got sent in before my GP went on vacation :/

My referral went in June 30 and my letter for orientation was dated July 27- did your GP give you the referral ID #? I would call your GP and ask them for the confirmation. I had a lot of anxiety waiting for the letter to arrive - it will come?

No, unfortunately I didn't get a referral number, but I've got an appointment with my GP next week, so hopefully I can sort it all out then.  But your response gives me hope! I'm pretty sure my referral went to TWH, so I'm really happy to hear that you got your letter so quickly!

I know what you mean about the anxiety! It's funny, I debated going for surgery for ten years, but now that I've decided, waiting feels like torture
